Climatic Gases

During the process of burning CO2 is released.  This rises into the atmosphere and changes the balance of radiation and stores the rays of the sun, which are reflected by the earth.

Therefore the atmosphere is heated similar to a greenhouse with serious consequences; intensifying of winds, spreading of tropical diseases, the rise of sea levels, affecting a change of flow of the Humboldt – and Gulf Streams, increasing the acidity of the oceans through the absorbtion of CO2; as well as climatic changes, droughts and formation of deserts.

The effects of these changes on future climates are difficult to forecast but we are already experiencing changes at this moment.

One reason for the release of CO2 is due to the use of fossil raw materials(oil, gas and coal) .

Facts worth knowing :

  • The climatic effect of oil products is negative: 1 ton of carbon emits 3,67 tons of CO2
  • Coal emits double the amount of CO2 compared to gas per energy equivalent.
  • Coal appears to be cheaper in comparison to other fuels but the ensuing costs of the CO2 release are not taken into consideration.
  • Carbon balances are not definite but CO2 takes second place after steam with regard to climatic changes through gases.

Worldwide efforts for the reduction of CO2 emissions have to be viewed with these facts in mind.

It appears probable that the earth is taking a course towards a climatic problem even before the reserves of fossil energy carriers have been exhausted.

Fossil oil and paraffin are becoming more expensive.

Oily fruit, like palm or soya oil are not the solution.

These are used in the food industry or for animal feed and have negative environmental effects through clearing, cultivation, production and transport and are costly.

We have to look for different solutions.

The ensuing climatic changes caused through the release of CO2 and other gas are a limiting factor for the use of fossil energy carriers.
